What to Expect When Visiting

We have what you need

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus speaks of His church being built.  The Foundation on which the church is built is the fact that Jesus is the Son of God.  Jesus is our only hope and only real promise.  The church that He built is His body and He is the Head (Ephesians 4:12 -16; 5:23 ).

In order to truly love Jesus we are told in John 14:15-24 that we must keep His commandments.  We need to keep His words (John 8:31 -32).  His teachings are the only way that leads to life (John 14:1-6).  Jesus is the only way.  We must keep His words and doctrine (2 John 9). This is what is expected of all Christians.

Our love and devotion for Christ is what we need.  Paul plainly writes about our need to be living sacrifices to God (Romans 12:1-2).  Offering this sacrifice is to continually be living a life according to the God’s instructions. In this we find holiness and acceptability before God.

We need God!  God has known us since He created us in the beginning of time.  He is our Creator and the Author of our hope and promise of heaven (Hebrews 5:9).  God is all knowing and all powerful; we need Him (Psalms 29:4; Ecclesiastes 12:13 -14).

What you should expect

There are many things to expect when meeting and worshipping with the church of Christ .  We promise to teach, preach, and do things according to God’s word.

We have Bible classes for every age group.  These classes provide for learning with the ability to ask questions on things pertaining to the scriptures. This gives everyone a chance to learn at their individual level.  The scriptures are our only guide. They are our instruction and knowledge of God and His ways (2 Timothy 3:16 -17).

We will have prayers.  Prayer is our way praise and thanking God.  We open our hearts to God to share with God the things that are on our minds.  God care for each of us and He wants us to seek Him and share our burdens with Him (1 Peter 5:7).  Prayer is also used to ask for His care for others as well as our own needs. We know that prayer is a wonderful privilege and the prayers of a righteous person works (James 5:16 ).

We also sing, raising our voices to God (Ephesians 5:19 ).  We will not be using mechanical instruments because the scriptures have not authorized their use.  We are instructed to “sing” and “make melody in our hearts”.  We use our own voices to sing to God.  It is in a way that we give the glory back to God by using our voices in one accord to praise God.

Also, every first day of the week we will remember Christ by partaking of the Lord Supper.  The scriptures record the examples of Christians gathering to partake of the first day of week in Acts 20:7. We partake of the bread which represents His body and the fruit of the vine which represents His blood that was shed  for the remission of our sins (1 Corinthians 11:23 -29).

We will also take up a collection.  This part of worship is for the members that meet here locally. You will not be expected to participate in this part of our worship. However, if you would like to do so you are more than welcome to give.  We understand that this is a way to thank God and provide for His work, including the needy among us. This act is to be done with a cheerful heart (2 Corinthians 9:6-10)

We will also have a lesson from God’s word.  This is a time to open your Bible and study and hear and understand more about Christ and His way of hope and promise.  We use only the Bible and we encourage you to follow along in the scriptures.  We refuse man made creeds or doctrines. We are determine to preach things of Christ and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2). We desire to present lesson that are very practical for the very real world we all live in.

You will hear how to obey God and His will only!  We love to share God’s plan of salvation and we want you to know how to be saved according to the scriptures. By following the commands and examples of the scriptures we learn that we need to: Hear the gospel (Romans 10:17); believe in the gospel (Mark 1:15); repent—determine to stop sinning (Luke 13:5); confess Jesus as the Son of God (Romans 10:9-10);  and be baptized—immersed in water for the remission of your sins (Mark 16:16; Romans 6:4). From there we take one step at a time living faithfully through this life (Hebrews 10:38 ; Revelation 2:10 ).
